Sorting a sentence in verb phrases and noun phrases?

I'm finding it so difficult to sort these sentence into their noun/verb phrases...can't someone help me?

The first one is "Rita like red apples and John does too"

And the second one is "to lie on the beach is fun"

They're worded awkwardly and it's confusing me.
