Sorry to or sorry for?

Should I write, "I am sorry to get back to you but......" or "I am sorry for getting back to you but....."?

"getting back to someone" is most often to other person's benefit, so you would not be apologising. It's not impossible to use "get back" when you are e.g. asking for something further, but consider whether it is the best phrase in your context.
