Sorry for late response?

Head of a company who had been my teacher before, sent an invitation to me for a conference. I can't make the conference and I am replying his email late. I would like to apologize for the late response. And also tell him I will join some other time.

Is this correct?

Thank you for your email and sorry for my late response. Unfortunately I am not able to make the conference this year due to my work, although I am interested. Hopefully I will join the conference some other other time.
