Sophisticated

Does ' sophisticated ' can be understood as intelligent or fashionable?

For example, grey hair make me look more sophisticated.

My English teacher told me that here ' sophisticated' mean fashionable. Is that right?

I understand the dictionary meaning of ' sophisticated', but in the example sentence, does it make sense? Or can I say as follows?

I think black-framed glasses make people look sophisticated( which I mean smart, or intelligent)

Well, it could mean that, but most people would think you meant worldly and fashionable rather than intelligent. On the other hand, the usual view is that black-framed glasses are associated with intellectuals, not sophisticates.
