Grammar

Soonest / latest

Could you help me make these words natural?

I'm making a global website now and I'm providing [sort by] functions with dates.

The lists will be sorted by soonest date and latest date.

Is it correct use latest date as opposite of soonest?

I've been taught that latest also means newest.

For example latest news means the newest news.
