The boss needs to see this message __________; if it's not received, it could cost the company millions.

As soon as the letter arrived, the secretary __________________ informed her supervisor that the results were in.

The correct answers to the above questions are immediately. Why can soon or quickly be the correct answers too? I'm very confused ... so freaking out.

Soon does not have much urgency or timeliness associated with it.
He is coming soon. (Maybe in five minutes, maybe three hours, maybe tomorrow.)

In #1, urgently fits, but immediately has the added nuance of "as soon as possible."
In #2, quickly fits, but it is rather informal for a business context.

What about "quickly" in #1 and "soon" in #2?
Some dictionary says soon = quickly. That's why I am puzzled.

This can even mean: He needs to have someone show him the message with a quick movement of the message in front of his eyes. He may not have enough time to read the message!
