Grammar

Songs

I am from Russia and I learn English. There is a strange thing in the lyrics of "Still loving you". Scorpions sing:If we'd go again All the way from the start I would try to change The things that killed our love
But grammar rules say that there should be:
If we WENT again All the way from the start I would try to change The things that killed our love Why? Does the original grammar mean something special?

You made the appropriate correction, but you shouldn't expect anything in popular culture to obey any but the most basic rules of grammar.

Whatever you do, do not learn grammar from popular songs and movies.
