Im new here and would like some help with this line in a song Im writing the line is:
"Someone's gone and stole her heart again" or should it be "Someone's come and stole her heart again" Hope you can help Thanks Frank

"Someone's gone and stole her heart again" 'Gone and done something' is an idiomatic and informal way of saying 'done something unexpectedly and / or impulsively'.

eg I've gone and said something terrible to Mary

eg He's gone and crashed his car

'The use of 'stole' instead of 'stolen' is typical of uneducated speech.

or should it be "Someone's come and stole her heart again" No.

thanks.Well does this work as it has to fit with the phrasing of the melody and "stolen"doesnt.

Non standard English is frequently used in songwriting and should be attributed to artistic license. Most would argue that the emotional content of the lyrics is more important than grammatical correctness. Songs are often written in the vernacular of the region the writer comes from, or is attempting to imitate the style of, especially in country or folk music.

In what used to be called the anthem of the South, the first line is, "I wish I was in the land of cotton," when, if correct, it would use the subjunctive form, "I wish I WERE in the land of cotton." But, that just doesn't have the same feel to it, does it? Use what feels right to you. Songwriting isn't a grammar exercise, it's an art form.

If you are writing classical opera or a very elegant song, you might want to ensure that your usage is correct. When you are writing songs about stolen and broken hearts, I wouldn't worry so much.

The second one sounds like it is a more serious relationship with the new person. It should be stolen.
