Somewhere and anywhere

Hi dear friends. I have a question which I'd like you to help me with.

1. Where shall we go on holiday? Let's go somewhere/anywhere warm and sunny.

Somewhere has turned out right answer, but I think anywhere still can be used in a sense "it does not matter where I just want this place ti be warm and sunny." Am I right?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Fandorin, I agree with you. In this context there's no difference in basic meaning. "Somewhere" is indeed more common.

Hi, Fandorin,

"Somewhere" is indeed more common. It calls no attention to itself, placing the emphasis on "warm and sunny."

"Anywhere," on the other hand, does call more attention to the fact that you don't give a care about any other aspect of the choice, and it would probably be stressed
