something vs anything

hi,everyone.I met such a sentence:

I know he never says something unless he knows it's right

plz explain to me why something here is correct? why not anything?

They are indeed both common, and in your sentence either will do nicely. The use of something/someone/etc in this structure is called 'positive bias'. It suggests a bit more assurance in the mind of the speaker that the event will occur.
