something of a run

Hi,

A run in basketball is when one team scores more points than the other.
The home team went on a 21 to 6 run in the last 6 minutes of the game. The home team scored 21 and the away team scored 6.

I would like to know whether you can say The home team went on something of a 20 to 5 run [If you don't know the exact numbers.]

What is correct?
If you not sure of the exact numbers.
If you don't know the exact numbers.

Top answer

If you are not sure of the exact numbers. If you don't know the exact numbers. I'm not a sports enthusiast, but it sounds to me like the final score was 20 to 5 (or whatever), and all the points scored during the last six minutes of the game were made by the winning team.

Hi Canadian45

May I ask you something?

It's about basketball.

A little foul was called. The commentator says:
I've seen a lot worse [fouls] not get called. That was barely a foul.

said right before the player shoots the ball
I know his swagger before he shoots it.
Does this make sense to you?

Do you follow basketball?

"I've seen a lot worse [fouls] not get called. That was barely a foul."

Yes, this means that there were other things that happened in the game that the officials did not call as fouls. These other things were more clearly fouls than this one.

I don't know what you mean about the rest of your question.

Hi Barbara,

Could you tell me how you would say this sentence please?

I've seen plays with less physical contact [in basketball] be/get called fouls. How come that was not a foul.

Thanks Barbara
