Letter Writing

Something like a motivation letter (Problems summing up the content)

Hi everyone!

I am a spanish student who has obtained an excellence grant for studying abroad. It is not a motivation letter itself what I need but just filling a big field there is in the online application. It says:

Please, provide us with a brief history of your employment or internships that you have undertaken, travel experience, and extra-curricular activities in which you have participated. Then briefly state your motivation for undertaking exchagen to *******.

I have written the following, which I think it is veeery long. The problem is that I do not really know how to sum it up covering all the important things I have done. I also think that in every sentence is the same: "I have done... Then, I have done... Finally, I have done...". I would really appreciate any advice for making the letter more interesting to the reader without having to speak everytime in first person.

Thank you all in advance for your time!

----------------------------------------------------

Since I was a child I have always been a really enterprising, lively and inquisitive person. I have always tried to acquire the largest number of experiences to learn new things from them. My first real travel experience was when I just graduated from school at 18 years old and decided to travel across Europe for one month and a half with three other friends. After that trip, I learned the real sense of maturity and responsibility, without losing the sense of adventure and discovery.

Although, I was not yet really mature for undertaking bigger projects. That is why I decided to fill part of my free time acquiring work experience while studying during my first three years of college. As it is shown in my CV, I held different jobs such as team coordinator for the NGO *****, waiter, worker in a factory, even as a freelance deejay and a private chauffeur. With all of these opportunities I learned values such as teamwork, leadership and the sense of hard work. I also started to being involved in some of my university's projects, such as being the pilot of a competition car my university designed, training in real race tracks and attending yearly competitions in Europe. In that time, I realized the importance of knowing how to focus and concentrate as well as how to balance my time and priorities.

In spite of being so busy during my university, my first major work out well completing it in three years of study and one additional year developing my final year project. Then, I obtained a grant for doing an internship in China, where I spent three months. The first month there, I attended intensive Chinese classes in Beijing, and then I spent some time travelling across China. Finally I moved to Chongqing for working as an English and mechanical engineering teacher assistant in a university, which was a great experience for me.

I have always being interested in learning languages. I attended French school in Spain for 15 years, what makes me bilingual Spanish and French, and when I was 12 years old I started learning English as well, attending also a summer course in the UK. When I was 21 years old, I started learning Chinese covering the chance of going for an internship there, which was finally accomplished. With that being said, I also really value persistency.

Recently, I have been involved in the organisation who gave me the opportunity for going to China called ******, where I have been elected student representative of several schools at my university. Next summer, I will go to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for doing my last two months internship with this organisation. Then, I will attend a semester in Helsinki, Finland, from September to January 2010 in the field of International Business and Industrial Management. Finally, after being given the excellence grant from my university for studying in Australia, I hope I will fit the requirements to be accepted for the exchange at ******.

I have always wanted to build an international career in engineering, with the aim of holding a high responsibility job in a multinational company. I am really looking forward to completing the exchange at ***** in order to experience a new educational system as well as improving my English language skills while obtaining my degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing engineering. Therefore, I will be very pleased to finally have the chance of fulfilling my academic and professional dreams and goals with that great opportunity I have been given.
