Something is going to happen vs something will happen

From the Cambridge Dictionary:

Wait

We use wait when we refer to letting time pass because we are expecting that something is going to happen.

My question is this:

Would it be equally correct to say/write, "..........because we are expecting that something will happen"?

Thank you.
