I read this in a blog, is there anything wrong

I guess some blogs are written in abbreviated style. We don't know if this is supposed to be historical present or simple past. She checks on the map to see what is the fastest route to the museum.

We don't know if this is supposed to be historical present or simple past.

Note that "check on the map" can have two different meanings.

It can be [check on] [the map] (see what the map "has to say"),

or [check] [on the map] (check where? on the map).

I believe most native speakers would omit the pronoun:

She checked the map to find the fastest route.

I'd say "to check on" can be an idiom meaning to check the condi
