Vocabulary

Something from the hospitals in US.

Hi guys,

could you please take a look at the next sentence and help me with some details there.

Context: Doctor is saying to a pacient...

We're gonna do some tests. The tech(?) will be down in a couple of minutes to bring you upstairs...if they're not too backed up. (too busy, right?)

Please guys, about whom is that doctor talking about? The tech = internist/hospital assistant?

thanks in advance, because I don't seem to be able to find it on the internet...Emotion: sad

Best Regards

Hi,

tech = technician.

eg When I get an x-ray, the machine is operated by a technician. He/she then gives the x-ray picture to a doctor, who interprets it.

Best wishes, Clive

What's in a name? I think in the US it varies from state to state. A "tech" could be a lab technician (somebody who draws blood or checks urine samples) or an x-ray technician, etc, etc.

I used to go with a girl in Boston who was about to get her B.S. in medical technology. It was a tough degree, and then she had to pass some pretty tough state exams in order to be certified or licens
