Something from the banking area

Hi guys,

It's me again. I need help with a sentence concerning the banking area. Please, "If the deposit slips don't jibe with someone's account activity", what does it mean? From the context of the situation I feel that it's hinky, but I don't know howto translate it to make a sence..:-(

thanks in advance.

Best Regards

"Comport" is the best synonym I can think of, but not many people use the word. " "They don't jibe" has been used forever to describe two things which are supposed to "track together," or "correspond" in some way - and don't! "Agree" is a more common word.

  • It means there's no discrepancy.
  • The books balance or they don't balance.

Hi
to jibe with (US informal) = to be similar/ to match something.
Here the deposit slips do not match/are not in line with the activity on the account. Unfortunately we do not know in what way they do not match - it seems to me there are three possibilities:
1) The dates on the deposit slips do not match those on the bank statements (unlikely)
2) The amounts on the deposit slip
