something

Hi,

Can the word 'something' go with a plural noun with the word 'like' in between like this Bible verse?

Acts 9:18

Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized.

something like a watch

but?

something like watches??

I think the 'something like' in the Bible verse can be taken as an elliptical expression as in 'something that looks like scales".

You are probably right about the elision, and something does indeed occur with plurals as in your examples.
