"someplace" is not used (or hardly used) in British English.

It seems that "somewhere" is 15 times as common as "someplace."

In British English, the ratio is about 35:1, and in American English, about 10:1.

They have a similar meaning, but their pronunciation is very different, and as a result of this they are often used differently. Some examples:
