Today's speaker is mike deluise. After he graduated from high school he went to marine corp. He joined the program in 1992 and finished the program in two years. As he mentioned that 90% of pilots have to go through CFI job first, in order to proceed our future success. Also Patience, perseverance and attitude these 3 things are very important for us to achieve our goal. He was very busy when he was our flight instrutor at the airport. He is also a aircraft mechanic and he recommend all students that go to aviation maintenance school and it will be helpful for us in the future.
He share some of his first job experiences after flight instrutors at the airport. he mentioned so many negative things about his job. After got out from his first job, he found another job working for Banquette airline. He describe Banquette airline as checkrunner, which allow pilots get to fly as much as possible and build up their hours in a short amount of time. Airlines were very tough on requirements, all pilots must meet their hours requirements, otherwise they wouldn't interview them. After working for banqutte airline for 4 months, they requested mike to upgrade to captain, but he refused to, but after 1 month, he must accept the upgrade if not he will be layoff from the airline.
He is a pretty interesting and funny speaker. He talked many things about himself, most of stuff are about his job. I found some boring parts, which he talk too much about the job he work for a horrible boss, and the scary part is he spent more money than he made, he describe as bankruptcy. He have went through many hard situation, which im afraid of it will happen to me in the future, but he is right as long as I have patience or perseverance, I should be fine in the future.
He didn't make many suggestions or recommendations for students, but he metioned one thing which is totally right for all of the students “read as much as possible and get to know the aircraft is very important”. His perseverance I really admires because he had been waiting for a job for 6 years and finally his perseverance became successful and got the job. He rather want to fly international than domestic, which I think the same way because fly international we can get to know about this earth.
