dilshi If someone told me a joke, then how can I say this sentence? Using 'kill' in a sentence is generally unwise, especially for a non-native speaker. Why don't you tell us in other words what kind of response you would like to give?

Usually if someone tells a joke, you laugh. I don't understand how "I'm going to kill you" comes into it. It doesn't make sense.

He might mean it was a prank and his friend was explaining it to him or telling him about the prank. In which case, jokingly, you could respond, "I'm gonna kill you." Only using it as a retort. Otherwise, violence lives on.
