Someone Please Correct These Sentences...!?

Hi everyone,

I have to write an explanation letter to become a Canadian citizen but I am not too sure that if my grammar is right.

There is a gap of 374 days between my old and new passports; my old passport was expired on December 31, 2013 and my new passport was issued on January 09, 2015.
I didn't renew my passport because I was not planning on traveling out of Canada during that time period.

What do you guys think? Does everything look fine? Please let me know. Thanks!
