Someone best break it to the ones who've arrived?

This is a line from a movie. A man died whom it is his birthday and there is his birthday party. So one of his family says "Someone best break it to the ones who've arrived" and then she tell the people that the man died. But I don't understand that line. Could you help with this? Thank you.

Thank you! What does 'best' mean here? It sounds like "had better.'

Right, "someone best" is a shortening of "someone had best", which is similar to "had better".
