  • We were ON the same place?
  • We were AT the same PLACE?
  • Or is he using it like a metaphor - some woman was hungry for man, and both of them were the same "meal"?

Hi FlizTomate, and welcome to English Forums.

We need a bit more context.

We were ON the same place? We were AT the same PLACE?

Or is he using it like a metaphor - some woman was hungry for man, and both of them were the same "meal"?

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.

I think he probably said, 'We are on the same page', meaning we both have the same idea/opinion about something.

The underlying image is that 'We are both looking at the same page in a book about this particular subject'.

Best wishes, Clive

I checked it again.
those are exact words "we are the same plate".

the context is that Ted has a plan to mack on a girl at a party, and his friend Barney, who is a lady's man, said to him"solid plan, my little friend",and Ted replied "we are the same plate".

I dont get the meaning of plate here.is it a common expression in English that means two

This just doesn't make sense to me here. I can't imagine that "plate" is the right word, but I can't think of what should go there either. We're the same height? (Since Barney just called him "my little friend"?)

It's a funny show.

Did you hear that both actresses (Lily and Robin) are pregnant? I wonder if one of the characters will be too, or if they will both wander around carrying large baskets in front of them and stand behind the counter a lot?

They will stand with things in front of them, that's all. A counter is a table-like thing with cabinets below and a flat surface on top in a kitchen. (Just so you can't see their big stomachs.)

When Gillian Anderson was pregnant on the X-files, she talked from behind the car, from behind her desk, from behind the file cabinet - it was funny after a while.

Prepositions are wonderful!

Behind the counter = so as to hide some physical aspect of the person
Over the counter = [drugs] sold without a prescription
Under the counter = slightly illicit, like naughty greeting cards
