Some words that I dont understand in a sentence

At the end of such a fully engaged week, we all return to our homes and families, not to be put back together again but bubbling over with energy to share and life to be enjoyed with our loved ones. This is not a narcotic though it can be addictive. It is not illegal, immoral or fattening, but it is life-affirming.

what do "put back together" and "flattening" mean?

thank you very much!

I don't read self-help books. It's like Mark Twain said, "I don't like to take advice from others when I see how badly they need it themselves." I've never seen this style of writing before. I am surprised you can read it at all. I want to buy these guys a box of commas. They seem to have run out.

A reference to the very famous nursery rhyme, Humpty Dumpty, meaning that the week was extremely stressful and demanding. You felt shattered into pieces and needed to recuperate.
