Some universities offer online courses as an alternative to classes delivered on campus. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Some universities provide online classes as another form of studying on campus. Personally, I believe that this idea has both aspects.

Concerning the negative side, it is definitely convenience for busy people. Especially for housewives, some of whom have to work all day, and when they go back home, they also have to take care of her children, do the chores. A survey conducted from all wives living in Massachusetts shows that 61% of them want to pursue higher education and more than a half of them cannot achieve their goals for going to locations where classes occur take an amount of time. Therefore, online learning is a perfect choice for them. Besides, learning online will help each person build his or her self-discipline also the effective allocation time. There is no real teacher taking care of learners so learners have to be active to complete assignments, which will improve their self-motivation in studying.

With regard to the positive respect, many people will feel demotivated when none instructor give support and guidance in direct with the students. This will lead to the inactiveness in students. Not to mention to the distraction from the social networking sites such as new messages from Facebook, new videos from Youtube, new status from Twitter etc. I once registered for a course of studying basic Spanish language but I dropped out. The reason why I quit is because of the less interaction with the students. I did acquire the knowledge; however, I was not allowed a permission to ask questions immediately whenever I had difficulties with the lessons. Additionally, I usually lost the connection since too many people got access to the website. Consequently, online courses do not empower students to continue the learning

To sum up in a sentence, I think that distance learning is an essential step forward.
