Some translating problems
Hi everybody,
This is my first post here. I am working on translating an article about musicians' maladies (to Arabic) to enhance my language. I faced some problems, so I need your help please:
This is one:
"Later, Beethoven’s biographer Martin Cooper added that the composer had ‘indeed suffered at some time from venereal disease’, for which the principal evidence was A telling B that C had told him that there had been two prescriptions for medication containing mercury"
That evidence is not clear enough to translate, need some explain.
In the head of the article: "Did Schumann die of syphilis? Was Tchaikovsky poisoned? Not a bit of it, says surgeon Jonathan Noble, who has discovered that biographers have often misunderstood, misdiagnosed or simply fabricated their subjects’ fatal illnesses"
What does "Not a bit of it" mean?

- Someone said that someone else said that someone else said Beethoven possessed a prescription for medicine which contained mercury (which was prescribed for his and other diseases at that time).

Someone said that someone else said that someone else said Beethoven possessed a prescription for medicine which contained mercury (which was prescribed for his and other diseases at that time).
