Some sound(s)/noise(s)

The words, 'sound' and 'noise', can be both countable and uncountable. I have made up the sentences below.

(1a) When I was in the living room, I heard some sound(s) from my bedroom upstairs.

(1b) When I was walking home late last night, I heard some noise(s) from a nearby building.

Do I do the singular or plural form of "sound and noise" in these sentences? Thanks a lot.

You can use these: I heard ... a sound / a noise / some noises. I would not use 'some sounds'.

Personally, I think I almost always say just 'a noise'.
