How would you say?

1) Hey, Kate, what was the homework on(?) math?
2) I was absent at\in(??) the math lesson (no 'during' please)

Hey, Kate, what was the math homework? I didn't make it to math class.

"homework in math" and "absent from the lesson" are possibilities, but not the most idiomatic way of saying those sentences.
