Some sentences

Hello!

Please help me with thses sentences:

  1. Homosexuality can be defined as a sexual attraction to persons of one's own sex. (is “persons” correct?)
  2. On the one hand, a lot of people formally condemn prostitution but on the other, they accept such a form of earning money... (is “on the other” correct, I mean shouldn’t it be: “on the other hand”?)
  3. (it's about men who don't wat to get married)They never get emotionally involved and enjoy being as free as the birds. (is “as free as the birds” correct? I mean I know a singular form “as free as a bird” but can it be used in plural like this?)
  4. Some 'con men' offer crossword puzzles the profits from which go to support a worthy cause or organisation. (is it correct?)
  5. Since demand creates supply, a huge criminal hierarchy formed then around supplying prohibited booze (is this sentence correct? (word order etc.))
