In the developed world, average life expectancy is increasing and it is said that the retirement age should be raised longer. I partly agree that this kind of scheme would have two aspects.
The increase in the age people retire means they will have more time to contribute to their organization or company. If a person has done a job for a long time, they certainly have gained lots of experience and had good enough knowledge for them. So, at that time, they can take up high positions in their workplace to manage and guide freshers or someone who is lack experience. In fact, almost companies prefer to recruit experienced elders over fishers. In addition, some surveys show that companies that have more older people will have a higher rate of productivity.
On the other hand, some people do not continue working after their retirement age due to health problems or private reasons. Firstly, some elders are likely less active and unable to adapt to the physical demand of their jobs. This is because when they get older, their brain can not put up with some innovation from jobs or enhance their skills more. Secondly, some people want to relax and spend their rest time traveling or getting on with their family when they left work. For example, when people get older, they just like to do ordinary things like talking with their grandchildren, cooking, or even having a cheery breath every morning.
In conclusion, I completely believe that the increase in retirement age should be up to each individual. Anyway, the health and enjoyment of elders must be observed all the time.
