Some questions about headphones

1.Even if it's an overhead headphone, it's still "ear 'bud'" when it comes to describing one side of the headphones???? (I thought only the in-ear headphones are called "EAR BUDS", nobody even calls them headphones in my experience)

2.Just as mentioned above, I usually will not use the word headphone in singular form because there are always two of them.Am I right?
