Some questions

Hi there, I have some grammar questions here. First of all, I am told by an editor that "some types of apples" is wrong, but "some types of apple" is the correct one, this correct?

Secondly, I am being told that "which of the followings is the correct one" is wrong, and it should be "which of the following is the correct one". Is this correct? Thanks.
