Some questions

Help me to find correct answers for these questions.

1.I didn't learn much Greek ........ I was in Crete

So, here are 2 possible choices 'since' and 'while', because the sentence is in past simple
tense I would say that correct is 'while'. Am I Right?

2. The more ........ we walk the longer it will take us to get home

slowly
slower
slowest
slow

I not sure about 'slow'.

3. I'd rather you ........ smoke in the office

couldn't
mustn't
shouldn't
didn't

I would use "didn't"

5. He didn' t want to risk________late for the interview.

arrive
arriving
to arrive
having arrived

Really don't know what to use here.

7.We had an exciting ___ on the Trans-Siberian railway.

travel

Could anyone explain first three options closer? They seem to be very similar.

Thank You
Peter
