some quesions

1. My sister had done the house................antique gold just before antique gold became the most popular color.................

drapes and rugs.

a) of /of b) on /from c) over /into d) in /for e) by / in I said a is that true? not sure

2.They have told me the buses.....town run........every twenty minutes.

a) into/about b) to /in c) by /at d) at / of e) in / with I said b is that true? not sure

3. Did you like my pullover? I bought it........the sommer sale ...................half price.

a) at/at b) in /for c) on /by d) over / in e) by/ below I said c is that true? not sure

* by the way preposition "by" where and how we used is unknown to me, Do we have to memorize for all situations or is there a rule for that.

For #1, I would say "up in", rather than "in". For #3, I would choose A (at/at). But in/for might be used by some speakers.

"Had done the house" -- Is it natural to say "done the house"?. Shouldn't it be "Had decorated the house"?

If the speaker viewed the decoration as a distinct improvement, he might say "she had done up the house", etc. It does imply that "she" did the work, though, rather than paying someone else to do it (in which case
