Some preposition issues

Hello...

1. Take the bomb down the area.
? Can this mean (A) “Take the bomb down at the area”?
Or it can mean (c) “Take the bomb down at a place which is located at the lower place than the area”?

2. Take the book down from the shelf.
? Can’t this be “Take the book down the shelf”, with the same meaning?

3. He walked down across the street.
? Does this mean (A) “He walked down at a place which is located across the street”?
Or (B) “He walked down following the course of the street”?
Or (C) both?
