Many people argue that children ought to start formal education early. While others suggest that schooling is unnecessary until they reach 7 years old. In this essay, I will elaborate on both perspectives and the reason why I am totally in favor of the idea of letting children enter school at an earlier age.
On the one hand, early education is crucial for all areas of a child’s development because it gives the children opportunity and builds the foundations that are needed for future success and health and learning outcomes. Moreover, from the ages of three to five, most children want to play with others their age, and can think about the feelings of others at an initial level. Through these interactions they learn to develop important interpersonal qualities such as empathy and cooperation which will help them get along with others in preschool. As a result, these early years social skills can help your child develop friendships throughout their whole life.
On the other hand, attending schools earlier can exert detrimental impacts on children’s mental health. This can be attributed to the fact that academic education can lead to unwanted stress. As a matter of fact, at an early age, the brain of young children are not fully developed. This makes them struggle to understand complicated theories in formal schooling and complete their schoolworks, and there is no doubt that they may fail tests.Hence, this practice can put enormous pressure on children and increase the risk of depression among this cohort.
In conclusion, although both views have their own merits, I maintain that it is better for children to start formal school at an early age due to developing their important interpersonal qualities in preschool. It is advisable that the government should encourage parents to send their children to school earlier.
