Many people believe that extreme sports should be banned. While I understand that argument, my view is that, within certain limits, people should retain the freedom to participate in whatever sports they choose.
The principal reason for objecting to extreme sports is of course that they can be highly dangerous and sometime life-threatening. Futhermore, it is not just the participants who are at risks, but spectators too can be seriously injured. When a formula 1 car race, for instance, has a extremely accident like car crashes and get burned, the driver may not be escape unharmed and there is also a chance that a boucing tyre and debris will fly into the crowd. Given this level of danger, it is understandable why people call for authorities to take action.
On the other hand, people should be allowed to assume whatever risk they choose. If someone wished to ride a bike to jump from a building to another, then they should be free to do so and it should be accepted that it is not a place for government to dictate how they lead their lives. Moreover, there are lot of extreme sports that was became a signature culture for their countries. Bullfighting, for instance, which has a high level of probability of injury, is a specific extreme sport in Spain that the government could not afford to ban.
In conclusion, I believe that while the government and other authorities do need to regulate dangerous sports, it would be preferable not to impose a ban on them entirely. I would suggest that regulations, procedures and safety measure need to be established that lead to minimized the risk. Although those sports are excited, safety has to be paramount, especially where minors are involved.
