Some people say that young people can learn useful skills by playing elctronic and computer games. Others say that young people who play electronic and computer games are wasting their time. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Whether playing electronic and computer games has a positive or negative influence on the youngsters nowadays is still a controversial question. It is believed by some people that many crucial skills can the youth obtain from playing these kinds of games, whereas others argue that it is a time-consuming as it does no good to our lives. This essay will analyse both views before any conclusion can be drawn.
On the one hand, there are some noticeable drawbacks of playing computer games that we cannot deny. First of all, it causes addiction, especially among the adolescents. This can result in the problem related to time management as teenagers usually struggle to accomplish their daily tasks once they are glued to the computer screen. They even put themselves in jeopardy by neglecting their homework and assignments just to spend time playing computer games. Moreover, those games have posed an enormous threat to the young generations' health conditions in recent time. As it can be witnessed, diseases associated with bones and body posture seem to have a dramatic increase as people were healthier 10 years ago.
On the other hand, there are several reasons because of which computer games are considered a tool for sharpening some important skills. First and foremost, there is a wide range of strategy games which demand the players to have a significant amount of experience as well as the ability to think logically in order to become the winner. Thus, they will offer the players an opportunity to broaden their knowledge and also their problem solving skills. Furthermore, those shooting games, such as Contr Terrorism, Counter Strike,... require tremendous concentration as well as the fast reflexes of hands and eyes so as to accomplish the challenges in the games. Therefore, the players can demonstrate some daily tasks which demand for those skills more efficiently. Last but not least, there are those battle games that call for cooperation among the players in a team, which means they can enhance their ability to do team-work. Thus, they will understand that teamworking plays a dispensable part in their daily lives if they want to gain achievements.
To sum up, I agree with the idea that playing electronic and computer games can provide young people with many useful skills as long as they spend a reasonable amount of time to do it.
