In the fast-paced modern world, one of the heated issues is the prevalence of processed food, which takes a toll on human health. Therefore, some endorse that school should disseminate knowledge about a healthy diet widely while other individuals support the idea of education from the students’ families. Arguments exist in support of both views.
Firstly, as regards schools’ responsibility, school education about a balanced diet is a more powerful and effective tool to influence students on a large scale. As teachers are better qualified and proficient in teaching, they can know the way to inspire and motivate children to do that instead of just conveying some tedious knowledge from the books. For instance, they are able to visualise the adverse repercussions of maintaining an unhealthy diet by vivid images and their persuasive stances. Consequently, this solution can succeed in reshaping students’ awareness and changing their attitudes positively, proving fruitful with strong impacts on awareness. However, many individuals claim that school education will be of no avail as the teachers cannot guarantee every student will follow their advice or supervise the children's diet every time. Nonetheless, as school education is not just the teacher’s lessons, the school canteen can adjust the reasonable diet with students and students can follow a healthy diet by imitating their peers’ eating habits.
Secondly, when it comes to parents’ duty, parents can capitalize on the theoretical knowledge to regulate the eating habits of the whole family. They can make healthy meals on a daily basis to avoid their kids’ addiction to fast food in reality instead of just talking about its drawbacks. Additionally, as children have lived with their parents from an early age to the adolescent stage, parents get a better understanding of children's interest so it is probably easier to modify their eating diets. Thanks to some parents, some kids have stuck to a well-balanced diet from their infancy and followed this habit in the long term. In other words, parents are capable of shaping their children’s mindset and forming a habit of maintaining a strict diet.
In conclusion, from my perspective, I think both schools and parents should share the responsibility of educating children to have a stable and healthy diet to tackle this issue optimally.
