Nowadays, we are living in a world where the development of education is a heated
topic and often discussed. People have varying views regarding whether it is a good
idea to pursue tertiary education for seeking employment in lieu of applying for a
job after high school graduation. While some people advocate the latter, I would
argue that the optimal way to career success is through universities.
The decision to skip college is largely justifiable. The argument in favor of this view
could be that some professions may not require college education. These include
artistic fields like music or acting where success does not hinge on one’s
qualifications but rather their innate talents. However, it is difficult to make a
lucrative income from working in these fields, especially those without vigorous
support, and this career success is quite unattainable. My brother perfectly
exemplifies this principle. He has been acting professionally for 10 years, but he has
not managed to make a stable income to provide for himself.
I believe that it would be better for high school graduates to attend a third-level
institution. This is because the majority of employers require job applicants to have
university qualifications as a mandatory criterion. That is to say, it is virtually
impossible to land a job without a college degree. This is compounded by the fact
that most industries today are becoming increasingly technical, which means one
needs to acquire specialized knowledge in university to improve the chances of
getting hired. For instance, accountants should have a deeper insight into various
accounting standards and procedures, which can only be learned in college. By
going to the college, people can also enhance their social competencies, which is of
substantial benefit to them in the workplace.
In conclusion, I would contend that attending colleges and universities plays an
indispensable role in the realization of a successful career.
