You baked a pancake and broke it into pieces, wiill you say 1 or 2?
1) have some pancake.
2) have some pancakes.

You baked two pancakes and broke them into pieces again, will you say 1 or 2?

I love pancakes! I wish you had posted this question early this morning. Pancakes vary in size, but I seldom deliberately break them.

I love pancakes! I wish you had posted this question early this morning.
Pancakes vary in size, but I seldom deliberately break them. I keep them heated in the oven until each of us has several small or a couple of big ones each.
If I broke one it would be for a grandchild. Once broken the pieces become ‘some pancake’ #(1)
Otherwise, when all are served whole, ‘some pancakes’ #(2).
