Some other expressons needed

Hi. I believe when someone like a secretary takes a phone in an office, she would say the following words to find who the caller is. Please tell me other expressions we can use possibly in a less formal setting? Thank you in advance for your help.

"May I ask who is calling?"

At home, I sometimes ask 'Who is this, please?'

Do they answer? I ask because nine times out of ten it's somebody trying to con me into buying something ridiculous and if I ask them to identify themselves, they just hang up.

I put my numbers on the Do Not Call list, and I now get fewer junk calls. I still get occasional calls from "Are you one of the millions of Americans without health insurance?" and "This is Rachel from Credit Card Services" and "You have won a cruise", all of which are recorded messages. I'm still waiting to hear from "Windows Technical Support", but I'm sure they'll get to me eventually.

Same here, but unfortunately, 'fewer' isn't the same as 'none'.

Thank you, CalifJim and Clive. Are these good answers to the question asking who the caller is? Thank you again in advance for the help from either of you.

1. I'm his school friend, and my name is John Doe.
2. This is John Doe, his school friend.

I got that call. I kept them occupied for a fruitless 20 minutes before they hung up on me. They haven't called back.

I always hang up and report Rachael from card services (and lately the "I fell down and can't get up" personal security scammers) , and report them on the FCC registr

I assume this is a personal call, not a business one.

It's OK to say
1. I'm his school friend, and my name is John Doe.
2. This is John Doe, his school friend.

We often just give brief in
