Some or Certain

I want to write a phrase which has a similar meaning to "some cynical people". But I can find that the "certain cynical people" is not a natural expression by using https://books.google.com/ngrams/. Please someone tell me any other alternative way to mention "some cynical people" in the context of academic writing.
