I ate a fruit and a sandwich for lunch or I ate some fruit and a sandwich for lunch.
And
Let's get a fish and chips for dinner or Let's get some fish and chips for dinner.
Which one is correct?

Anonymous I ate a fruit I'd say this is quite unusual. Why be coy about which kind of fruit you had? Are you trying to hide something?
