Some interpreting questions!!

Hi all,

I have two questions as to interpreting this sentence:
1. "It is always a pleasure to talk to parents who might join our school community."

Q: Is "school community" equivalent to "school"? Or there is a difference?

2. "About half the children at my daughter's kindergarten plan to come to your school. That's a plus!"

Q: In this sentence, does "that is a plus" mean: (a) this school is a top priority (b) because it is beneficial to my daughter

Any opinion is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
