Some help with use of ON vs IN

Hi,

I don't get it even though I read so much already. Could you please tell me simplest possible ways to differentiate this two?

ON and IN

Today, I had to write a sentence like this "when the search is made on Google' and I suddenly stopped scratching my head whether it's on Google or in Google.

This is not the first time but every time I get confused.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
