There are several factors responsible for urban migration that is deemed as the primary cause of this trend. In fact, since a myriad of companies, factory and health facilities are located in city areas, a greater number of people living in the countrysides move to cities annually to search for better standards of living as well as job opportunities which makes these metropolitan regions more jam-packed. As a result, cities grow outward is unavoidable. Secondly, population growth is also to blame for the expansion of metropolitan areas. That means, to meet the dweller’s demand for accommodation, authorities have to enlarge the cities by establishing more infrastructures as well as amenities in suburbs.
A heavily-populated city can lead to several problems. Firstly, it exacerbates the problem of insufficient housing and transport facilities. In fast-developing cities such as Ho Chi Minh city, for example, people are struggling to afford a house and a large proportion of the working residents are living in dreadful accommodation.
