some adjetives

I think these words "Cute, adorable, lovely, pretty, beautiful." must have difference. "Cute, adorable, lovely, pretty" seem similar for me; "Pretty, beautiful" also seem to be similar for me. "Cute' in my opionion usually describes a baby or a kitten. "The baby is so cute". But nowadays, it seems that girls usually say:This guy is really cute. They mean that this guy is handsome. Can i say: this girl is cute if i see a girl with age 22 but i don't mean she is baby-cute but pretty? ONe of my friend said "a girl is cute" and "a girl is pretty" were still different, why? How about 'beautiful'? The other my friend said she never used the word "lovely" because it's really old? What's the difference of this word with other two?
