Is there a rule that determines when you should use "some" or not? For example, which of the following sentences is correct?

I want pizza for dinner.

There is not much difference between your 2 sentences. Both of them are correct.
If I say "I want some pizza for dinner", I mean that I would not eat a whole pizza, but part of a pizza.
If I say: "I want pizza for dinner." I mean that I would prefer pizza over Chinese food or fish or hamburger.
