1.Some boy or the other has eaten my lunch.
Use of "the" before other is required here. somebody told me that "the" is not required, but I could not understand it.
Could anybody explain it?

hanuman_2000The use of "the" here is correct?Not to me. Not in American English. Maybe it's British. The two below seem more natural to me.
